Mulberry Cottage is a small, characterful home set on a quiet street in the heart of Painswick. Just a short walk from the village centre, it offers a comfortable and well-placed base for couples or friends looking to explore the South Cotswolds on foot.
The cottage is thoughtfully arranged, with a welcoming sitting room, a private garden and two double bedrooms upstairs. While compact in size, it’s carefully equipped and works particularly well for guests who plan to spend their days walking, eating out locally and returning home to a calm, familiar space. Dogs are welcome, and many of Painswick’s best walks and pubs are close by.
The sitting room is warm and comfortable, with a fireplace and Smart TV creating an easy place to unwind after a day out. The scale of the room suits the cottage well, making it feel cosy rather than crowded.
The kitchen is well equipped for everyday use, with everything needed for light cooking and simple meals. A compact utility area provides additional storage and practicality for longer stays.
Due to the size of the cottage, there is no indoor dining table. Most guests choose to eat out locally, or make use of the garden for relaxed meals in warmer months.
Upstairs, two double bedrooms offer a comfortable place to rest, each with hanging space and simple, unfussy finishes.
The main bedroom includes a roll-top bath, positioned for a slower end to the day after walking or exploring nearby villages.
The bathroom is downstairs and is a modern with a walk-in shower.
At the front of the cottage, the private garden is a lovely extension of the living space. A small bistro table provides seating for morning coffee or relaxed meals outside. Herbs, flowers and edible plants grow throughout the garden and guests are welcome to pick and enjoy what’s in season.
Mulberry Cottage welcomes well-behaved dogs. Walking routes begin close to the cottage, with easy access to village paths, countryside trails and dog-friendly pubs. Please bring a towel for muddy paws.
Painswick is a historic village known for its honey-coloured stone buildings, churchyard views and strong sense of place.
The village centre is a short walk away and home to cafés, pubs, a small shop and St Mary’s Church with its famous yew trees. The Rococo Garden sits just outside the village and is particularly lovely in spring and summer. The Cotswold Way passes nearby, making this a good base for walkers.
Stroud is around ten minutes away for markets and cafés, while Cheltenham, Tetbury and the wider Cotswolds are easily reached by car. Bath and Oxford also make possible day trips.
Because it’s small, well placed and easy to live in. With a central village location, a private garden and just enough space to settle in comfortably, Mulberry Cottage suits guests who want to spend time together, enjoy the village on foot and return to a quiet place at the end of the day.
