Lovedays Cottage is a characterful period home in the heart of Painswick, overlooking the village churchyard and set just moments from shops, cafés and walking routes. Arranged over three floors, the house sleeps six guests across three double bedrooms and offers two distinct living spaces, allowing the house to feel sociable without everyone needing to be in the same room.
Original features run throughout, from fireplaces and exposed beams to deep-set windows and stone detailing. These sit comfortably alongside thoughtful modern touches, creating a house that feels lived-in and welcoming rather than styled. To the rear, a private walled garden catches the sun and provides a quiet place to step away from village life.
Dogs are welcome, and the cottage works particularly well for families and friends who want to settle into Painswick at a relaxed pace.
Lovedays Cottage offers two contrasting living areas.
On the ground floor, a combined dining and sitting room centres around a log-burning stove, creating a warm and informal space for meals and evenings by the fire.
Upstairs, a larger entertaining room provides a quieter, more elevated setting. An inglenook fireplace with a log-effect stove anchors the room, with views over Painswick Church at the front and the valley beyond to the rear. An honesty bar is stocked with spirits, with donations supporting Emmaus, a local homelessness charity.
The bespoke country kitchen is well laid out and fully equipped for everyday cooking. A breakfast area makes it an easy space to start the day, whether heading out walking or staying close to home.
The bedrooms are arranged across the upper floors, each retaining original features that reflect the age of the house.
On the first floor, a double bedroom with fitted cupboards sits close to a bathroom with shower over bath.
On the second floor, two further double bedrooms feature exposed beams and sloping ceilings, along with a second bathroom fitted with a freestanding bath.
To the rear of the house, the enclosed walled garden is south-facing and quietly positioned. Patio seating, an outdoor dining table and a clematis-clad arbour provide several places to sit throughout the day. A pair of wicker chairs offers a simple spot to read or enjoy the sun. An outdoor WC is also located in the garden.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Lovedays Cottage. Bowls are provided, the garden is enclosed, and countryside walks begin close by, including routes connecting to the Cotswold Way.

Lovedays Cottage sits within a short walk of several well-regarded pubs and restaurants, as well as everyday village shops. St Mary’s Church, with its famous yew trees, is directly opposite, and the surrounding lanes and footpaths make exploring on foot easy.
Painswick is well positioned for exploring the wider area.
Stroud Farmers’ Market is a short drive away and widely regarded as one of the best in the country. The Slad Valley lies just beyond the village and is closely associated with Laurie Lee. Cheltenham offers shopping, theatre and festivals, while the Cotswold Way passes directly through the village for longer walks.
