The Cottage is a carefully restored Cotswold stone home in the heart of Painswick, combining traditional character with modern comfort. Set just moments from the village centre, it offers a calm, practical place to stay, with open views across the Slad Valley and a private garden to enjoy the setting.
Sleeping up to six guests across three bedrooms, the cottage suits families, friends or couples travelling together. Interiors are warm and welcoming, with a wood-burning stove, well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful details that make longer stays feel easy. Dogs are welcome, and walking routes begin close by.
The sitting room is comfortable and relaxed, with soft sofas arranged around the wood-burning stove. Books, board games and Sky TV make it an easy space to return to after a day out, whether you’re winding down together or taking a quieter moment.
The kitchen is fully equipped and designed for everyday use rather than display. It includes a cooker, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer and Nespresso coffee machine, along with everything needed for simple meals or unhurried dinners at home.
The Cottage has three well-proportioned bedrooms arranged over the upper floors.
Two king-size bedrooms offer generous space and calm finishes, while the twin room works well for children or friends. Crisp linens and dressing gowns are provided throughout.
The principal bedroom includes a roll-top bath, positioned for a slower end to the day. In total, there are three bathrooms, including two en-suites with walk-in showers. All bathrooms are stocked with soft towels and 100 Acres toiletries.
Accessibility note: bedrooms and bathrooms are accessed via stairs and may not suit guests with limited mobility.
From the kitchen, doors open onto a small courtyard, useful for morning coffee or rinsing muddy paws after a walk. Steps lead up to a raised garden terrace with seating and wide views across the Slad Valley, offering a peaceful place to sit and take in the landscape.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at The Cottage. A dog bed and bowls are provided, and countryside walks are easily reached from the village. Please bring dog towels and contact us in advance regarding pet fees.
Painswick is a village with a strong sense of place, known for its historic streets, independent shops and surrounding countryside.
St Mary’s Church, with its famous yew trees, is close by, as is the Rococo Garden, particularly lovely in spring and summer. For something a little different, Tibbiwell Alpacas offers gentle walks through the village and nearby fields.
The Cottage is well positioned for exploring the wider area.
The Slad Valley lies just beyond the village and is popular for walking, with The Woolpack pub along the route. Stroud offers markets and cafés, while Cheltenham provides festivals, shops and dining. Cirencester, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold are all within easy reach for day trips.
Because it offers comfort without fuss. With generous living space, valley views and an easy village location, The Cottage suits guests who want to spend time together, with room for both shared moments and quiet time — and the freedom to explore the Cotswolds on foot or by car.
