Banksia Cottage is a Cotswold stone retreat in the small hamlet of Cleveley, just outside Chipping Norton (OX7). Full of character, with an exposed stone fireplace and wood-burning stove, it’s a quietly comfortable base for couples, friends or a small family, with room for up to four guests.
The cottage combines period detail with modern finishes, a well-equipped kitchen and a private garden for warm-weather mornings and slower afternoons. Dogs are welcome, and countryside walks begin close by. Chipping Norton is a short drive for shops, pubs and supper, and Soho Farmhouse sits within easy reach (access subject to membership or guest arrangements).
Please note: the garden is not enclosed, so children and dogs should be supervised outdoors.
The sitting room centres around the exposed stone fireplace and wood-burning stove, creating a relaxed place to return to after a day out. There’s comfortable seating and a Smart TV for quiet evenings in.
The kitchen is bright and modern, with cottage windows, quality appliances and everything needed for a self-catered stay. A Nespresso coffee machine is included for easy mornings.
Upstairs, the bedrooms are arranged over two floors.
The first-floor bedroom is a spacious double, with crisp linen and an exposed stone wall that adds to the cottage feel. The top-floor bedroom offers a peaceful outlook with treetop views.
The bathroom is finished with elegant brass fittings and a walk-in shower.
Accessibility note: bedrooms and bathroom are reached by stairs, which may not suit guests with reduced mobility.
The private garden is a lovely extension of the cottage, bordered by a dry-stone wall and set up for outdoor dining or a quiet drink. The garden is not enclosed, so please supervise dogs and children while outside.
Banksia Cottage welcomes up to two well-behaved dogs. A dog bed is provided by the fire, and there are plenty of nearby walking routes for countryside outings. Please bring dog towels, and take extra care in the garden as it is unenclosed.
Banksia Cottage is well placed for exploring the northern Cotswolds and the market towns nearby.
Because it’s the sort of place that makes it easy to slow down. A wood-burning stove, characterful interiors and a peaceful setting just outside Chipping Norton make Banksia Cottage a lovely base for couples, friends or a small family. It suits guests who want quality time together, with the comfort of a proper cottage to come back to — and plenty of space for dogs to join the stay too.
